Privacy Policy

VoltShare is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects people who own home electric vehicle (EV) chargers (“Hosts”) with EV drivers who want to charge (“Drivers”). VoltShare is operated by Inova Studio LLC (“VoltShare,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use our website, applications, and related services (the “Services”).

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here and in our Terms of Use.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information. Your name, email address, profile photo, account role (Host, Driver, or both), and a securely hashed password. If you sign up with Google, we receive basic profile details from your Google account.
• Vehicle information (Drivers). The make, model, year, and connector type of the vehicle(s) you add, along with an optional nickname.
• Host listing information. Charger details (title, description, photos, connector type, power output, pricing, and availability) and the location of the charger, including street address and latitude/longitude coordinates.
• Booking & session data. Reservations, session start/end times, energy delivered (kWh), prices, fees, and booking status.
• Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers; we retain payment-related identifiers such as your Stripe customer ID, Host payout (Stripe Connect) account ID, and transaction references.
• Communications & content. In-app messages between Hosts and Drivers, reviews and ratings you submit, and any support requests.
• Information from other users. For example, reviews and ratings that other users submit about you.
• Device, usage & log data. IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, approximate location, and diagnostic/error logs.

We do not currently collect government-ID images, selfies, or biometric information. If we introduce optional identity verification in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain any consent required by law before enabling it.

• Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
• Operate the marketplace — listing chargers, matching, bookings, and sessions.
• Process payments to us and payouts to Hosts.
• Provide trust & safety features, including reviews, fraud prevention, and dispute handling.
• Send transactional and service messages by email, such as booking confirmations, receipts, and session updates.
• Improve, secure, and troubleshoot the Services.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

To protect Hosts, the precise address of a charger is not shown publicly. Before a booking is confirmed, Drivers see only an approximate neighborhood location. The exact address and access details are shared only after a booking is confirmed, and only with the Driver for that booking. We encourage Hosts to avoid including identifying details in public photos or descriptions.

We share personal information only as described below.

• Between Hosts and Drivers. To make a booking work, we share the information each party needs. Before a booking is confirmed, only an approximate location and limited profile details are shown. After a booking is confirmed, the Driver receives the charger’s exact location and access details, and the Host receives limited Driver details such as name, vehicle (make and model), and the booking window. In-app messages are shared between the two parties.
• Service providers (subprocessors). We use trusted vendors that process data on our behalf:
  • Stripe — payments and Host payouts (Stripe Connect).
  • Railway — application hosting and database infrastructure.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Mapbox and OpenStreetMap — maps, geocoding, and location search.
  • Google — optional sign-in (OAuth).
• Legal & safety. We may disclose information to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, property, or safety of VoltShare, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to run the Services — for example, to keep you signed in and to secure your session. We may also use a limited set of cookies to understand usage and improve the product. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Services from working.

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. We may retain certain information longer where required for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

We use technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data, including encryption in transit and securely hashing passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your credentials confidential.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

• Oregon residents (Oregon Consumer Privacy Act). You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, and a portable copy of your personal data, and may opt out of certain processing. You may appeal a decision we make about your request.
• California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You may request disclosure, deletion, and correction of personal information, and opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
• EEA/UK residents (GDPR). You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

To exercise any right, contact us using the details in Section 13. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law. Where permitted, you may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

The Services are intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use VoltShare. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

We operate in the United States, and our providers may process information in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers of personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
